World Engineering Day Interactive Student Presentation
World Engineering Day celebrates engineers and highlights the importance of engineering in Sustainable Development. The theme for this year is “Engineering for A Healthy Planet”. The transport industry plays a vital role in development; however, cognisance of the impacts of unsustainable practices must be paid. Reference will be made to Sustainable Development Goals 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 & 13 when considering Sustainable Transport and how it contributes to a more sustainable world.
The session will provide participants with the opportunity to give their perspectives on the South African Transport Industry and to put forward ideas on how to make it more sustainable. The effects of congestion will be explained and the wider role that transport plays in shaping our cities will be outlined.
Student members are encouraged to join the session, where opportunities to interact and engage pressing issues, will be provided.
